Review by Officialboluwatife -- Serendipity Mystery: Dia...
Serendipity Mystery; Diary of Snoopy Cat by R.F Kristi is an amazing and interesting children genre. It is the seventh edition of the Inca book series. The book is a diary about Inca’s vacation and adventures from June 10 to 17 in a year not stated in the book. She is a female detective cat with an eventful and interesting character. Inca along with her family traveled from London to Sri Lanka Island on vacation.
The Cat family includes: Fromage, Cara, Charlotte, and their human owner often referred to as Mum. Sri Lanka is an amazing and peaceful Island. The family pitched at the beach where Inca and her family got to enjoy the view of the sea with lots of Ice cream from their cottage. They visited a lot of places around the Island with memorable experiences.
They made new friends; Rani the little Turtle, Meena the baby Elephant, and Moma her Mother. Everything was fun before the news about the stolen old, antique sword and other treasures from the Museum in Colombo was announced. Solo the international detective and his assistance dog Terrance were authorized to investigate the matter and retrieve the treasures. Inca together with her siblings and their new company also embarked on a secret mission in capturing the criminals and retrieving the stolen items. Would Inca and her company be successful on this mission? How would they retrieve the stolen items back to the museum? Would their mission enhance a positive impact on this case? These answers are what you would find in this interesting children’s genre.
I enjoyed everything about this book. It is well-written and very entertaining for all children irrespective of their age. Yet, it will be best for children between the ages of seven to thirteen. I love the adventures and unity shown by the animals in the story. The author introduced every character explicitly for easy communication with children. There are a lot of lessons children can learn from this book. One of them is to be united in achieving a common goal. Also, it teaches children to be their brother’s keeper, as demonstrated by Inca when Fromage was missing. The pictures and illustrations in the book make the story more relatable to children.
There is nothing I dislike about the book. I enjoyed the teamwork exhibited by Inca and her company when moving the treasures. I also loved the courage she showed when confronted by a Mama Leopard. I learned that our composure in the face of our fears matters a lot for us to defeat it. The animal’s fear and composure during their experience with the monkeys were funny to me.
The book was well edited with no profane word, so I rate the book a 4 out of 4 stars. I noticed a few typographical errors in the book, yet it doesn’t affect the progression of the story. I recommend this book for children, especially when preparing for vacations. Parents might have to read this story to children below the age of six.
