Review by moowshiri -- Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a S...
Occasionally, we do go out on holidays or picnic breaks. If not so, I’m quite sure that a good number of us have been on one before. In most cases, some of these holidays rarely come to an end without having some mysterious incidences happening. In Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R. F. Kristi, a group of pets accompany their owner on holiday to Srilanka. During their stay there, an antique from one of the places they had planned to visit gets stolen. Grab a copy of this book to know what happened next.
I loved the fact that Kristi provided a detailed introduction to members of Inca and Company. The book contains pictures of each member, a short description of each is also attached to every image, respectively. As a result, I had an easy time familiarizing myself with those characters. Young children would also find it easier to understand its plot since there is already some background information provided.
The author has included cartoons in their work. I found this to be very welcoming, especially for the young, since such graphical images always amuse them. The pictures would also go a long way in capturing any young reader’s attention. They even break the monotony that comes along with reading paragraphs of plain text.
The book also contains lessons that I consider to be of much value, especially to the young and everyone at large. Kristi sensitizes the reader on the importance of unity of purpose when working to achieve a common good. I also learned that crime doesn’t pay.
The grammar used in the book is simple and easy to understand. There is no use of sophisticated vocabulary that might act as a hindrance to the understanding of the text by the reader. There are also no discussions on religion in the book, making it a safe read for readers from all faiths. I didn’t come across any instances of profanity or erotic scenes. However, I came across one error that didn’t affect my reading experience in any way.
I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. It is a very absorbing and informative read, one that you can read as a standalone. I also didn’t have any dislikes about the book. I recommend it to the young. However, adults can also give it a try though they might find it boring due to its predictable plot.
