Official Review: What Will Willabe Be?
What Will Willabe Be? It’s Better to be a Willabe Than a Wannabe is a delightful children’s book written by Leah Diamand Lightfoot. It is a story about a dog named Willabe, who is trying to find his purpose in life.
Willabe is a friendly and happy dog. One day Willabe meets a dog named Wannabe at the park. Wannabe is telling all the dogs in the park about what he aspires to become. Willabe is curious to find his goal in life and sets out trying different ideas. The book takes us through Willabe’s fun-filled and adventurous journey exploring new things in life.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book with my son. It is a great way of teaching young children to try different things and figure out what suits them the best. Often, young children are unclear about their likes and dislikes. They are shy and reluctant to try new things. They should explore the world they are growing in and find out about their interests. The book explains this in a fun and encouraging way. It also describes the different jobs done by dogs.
There is nothing that I dislike about this book. The author has beautifully described how Willabe tries one thing at a time to figure out what he wants to be. The book would help children to understand that not everyone can be the same. Each one of us is unique and has different potentials that we need to unravel. Children should not get disheartened when they are not good at a task, but take it in their stride and try other aspects. Try! Try! Till you succeed is the motto of this book.
The book is well-written and professionally edited. The illustrations in the book are colorful and complement the story. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book for children ages 4-7 years. Children who like dogs may find this book particularly fascinating. It is a perfect book for an interactive storytelling session.
