Review: A Modern Witch series by Debora Geary

I'm a huge fan of this series, it is well written and very family oriented. I love how Debora Geary incorporates both the antiquity of witches and witch craft, and the now digital era. If you ever wondered what modern age witches would be like, and how witches of old adapt to the ever changing times, this is an awesome series to read. This series incorporates the wisdom of the past with a wicked digital twist. The series is of a community no, more like a family, of modern witches living, loving, and embracing whatever comes there way. It will have you cry, laugh, and wish you had magical powers.

In the first book, A Modern Witch, Lauren is a successful Realtor in Chicago. She worked hard for her success and is quite happy and contented with her life. One night, while trying an online grocery website, her concepts are challenged. Fate steps in while she is browsing through the Ben and Jerry's ice cream link, in the guise of a group of witches.  Amused, she thought they were a bit crazy and believed the experience  was of no consequence until the next day when tall, dark and handsome and very single Jamie appears. He intercedes for the group of witches who had contacted her the night before, turning her life inside out and changing her  forever.   

The characters were charming and endearing. This book encompasses the intricacies of how a community's interactions can affect lives. Watching Lauren, a confident, independent business woman who had worked hard to perfect her life, struggle with new concepts that went against her knowledge of what she believed to be true, was realistic.  Being very  independent, Lauren learns to embrace a whole new way of life with a whole new group of people.  It was heart warming  to watch her expand her horizons and grow.  This book gives you the true sense of family and community. Sometimes life throws a monkey wrench into the works and Debora Geary helps you see that sometimes that which seems to be formidable and insurmountable can be turned into something extraordinary with a lot of love, a little help and a shade of interference. This book leaves you feeling that the world is better with the love of family and friends.
