Are books making you insane insomniac?

Post by mayakhan »

I am wondering if it is just me or other readers and authors are night people too?
When I am really into a project, I dont feel sleepy at all and can work for hours non stop. When I sleep, I am so exhausted, I sleep until late afternoons. It makes the life hell fo rpeople around me because I have absolutely no routine and my life is in dark since the sunsets early in winters.

Do other people get insomniac too when they are trying to figure out the plot for their next novel?

YES! YES! YES!

I find myself looking up at the ceiling, trying to figure out what is going to happen, or why it happened..

It's a bittersweet feeling, you know? :?

Oh yes! I oft times realize that the sun is coming up shortly and I haven't slept a wink b/c the book is just TOO captivating! I'm the same way when I'm working on a project of my own.

Not really. I love reading but have no problems to stop reading in any given moment. I have to wake up early, so can't afford to stay up too late at night.

Sort of, but I can only last until about 1am or so before I fall asleep with the lights on. My problem is that I spend my weekends reading instead of going out and meeting people which is not good since I'm living in a new town where I don't know many people.

Definitely! I work a full time job during the day, so most of my reading and writing gets done at night. I havent had a good nights sleep in a very long time, but I think my book is worth it.

An acquaintance of mine said he became so involved in finishing his first book that for days at a time he didn't eat, bathe or change his clothes. That also meant he did not sleep! His family were bemused yet tolerant.

Well I was reading 'till 4:15am this morning. No, I am not insane or an insomniac and I got eight hours solid sleep afterwards - still on Xmas holidays!

Yes yes yes! Totally yes! I am always like "one more chapter" and then it is morning and I haven't slept at all. It happens more often than not and my parents always lecture me. My boyfriend lectures me about it, even though, mostly he finds it amusing. I just can't put the book down.

Yes, yes, yes! I can't sleep at all when I'm reading a captivating book. I'm always lectured about it.
