Review by chantisma -- 2612 Cherryhill Lane by Glenn Vo
Jonathan McCallister was a star in the eyes of his teammates, family, and girlfriend, Lacey. As Katy High School’s quarterback, he was able to help the Katy Tigers win their first-ever State Championship, and he even won the MVP award. His college future was already secured at Texas University with a full scholarship, his dream college, and his father’s alma mater. It was obvious that nothing was going to stop Jonathan in his quest of making it to the NFL. Until he made one simple but unnecessary mistake causing an accident at 2612 Cherryhill Lane. This tragic mistake not only cost him his legs, confining him to a wheelchair, but he lost his best friend and sister, Gabby, and it would change his entire life. His sister was his biggest cheerleader and she loved talking football with him, especially in the car after the big game. The result of the accident and death of Gabby, tore his family apart and his girlfriend even left him as well. After weeks in a medically induced coma, the journey Jonathan McCallister would be forced to take, will lead him through many highs and lows, post-traumatic depression, self-discovery, new friendships and betrayals, and even his lost faith. With the assistance of his mother, Rose, his first Assistant, Dominic, and later Samantha Reid, he will begin to build his self-confidence, find his way back to God and even fall in love. The lessons he learns along the way are also reminders to the readers of how important we are as individuals, to have faith in ourselves and our family and friends, and most of all, the importance of forgiveness.
2612 Cherryhill Lane by Glenn Vo is a heart-warming story that is well-constructed and very relatable to many. The storyline stayed on track and continued through the last page. The characters were well portrayed with different personalities that kept the story entertaining.
Glenn Vo did an excellent job in portraying the results of our actions through Jonathan’s journey regarding the seriousness of “texting and driving” in today’s technologically-based world.
I am rating this book 4 out of 4 and there is nothing that I didn’t dislike. I believe it was professionally edited.
I would recommend 2612 Cherryhill Lane to teens and adults interested in Christian Romance, with simple kissing and cuddling and no profanity or sex, anyone that can relate to a “texting and driving” incident, or anyone wanting a good motivational read. I would not recommend it to anyone that is not a believer in God or faith.
