The Pearl of Corruption was a great book. The author, Stephen Ford, did a wonderful job creating a new world for his readers to enjoy. It was full of exciting twist and extraordinary characters. From the shape shifters to the Librarians of the Order there is never a dull moment. Ford keeps you wanting for more page and page again.

The Pearl of Corruption causes all sorts of trouble for the people in the book. It is the reason for a massive war between the countries that causes death to many of the people. The country the pearl is in is called Tilsan. The pearl is found by the leader of Tilsan who is corrupted by its power and turns from a great person in to an evil leader who cares for nothing but the power the pearl can give him.

The book is full of color character such as the shape shifters, that can form themselves in to any human they wish to be. There is the xan who are really large creatures that eat humans and are extremely destructive. The slyven are gray haired, skinny looking, and have more power than any normal human. The librarians are part of the Order, although they do not participate in the war itself, they play a part in the Destruction of the pearl.
The pearl causes destruction and mayhem on people of Tilsan. They try to defend their people with out even know why the war begun in the first place. It is far in to battle before any one finds out why the fight was started. The only way to end what has been started is to destroy the Pearl of Corruption.

Though out the book you see how people seek religion in the time of need. You also see how Gods hand plays a part in everything, good or bad. There are even times in the story when God comes in person to help the ones that need him the most and give them the faith they need to do what is right. It is an amazing story of the on going fight between good and evil.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars. It’s not perfect in spelling and grammar, but captures the reader’s attention and provides a great read. I would recommend this book for teens or adults that would enjoy a well written science fiction novel.
