Stance
The book is realistic in its portrayal of challenges frequently encountered at this life juncture and paints a realistic landscape for the reader. Perhaps one of the most meaningful take aways is the writers directness when discussing potential roadblocks, specifically if your own bad attitude or unwillingness to take ownership of your situation to make necessary changes is getting in the way of your progress. The writers attention to this is vital and appreciated as this is a work based in functional reality that will not delude readers into seizing some miracle fix. This is one aspect in which the book sets itself apart, while the writer is motivational, the call to personal action is not flowered over, it's focused on.
Recommendations
The writers suggestions for initiating change in regards to self and relationships are helpful, albeit simple, and in some cases a little underdeveloped. However, the writer efficiently compiles the common demands of motherhood and pairs them spot on emotional summaries and provides guidance to overcoming those obstacles. The advice is well suited for young, first time mothers, or for older women looking for a little inspirational pick me up versus an in depth exploration of personal development. The drive to increase sexiness is attacked from multiple angles that include concept of and care for oneself to nurture self esteem to supporting relational attitudes and activities.
Value
The writer is open about the development of her own personal mindset, and although she does offer suggestions for the reader throughout the work, the overall theme is a positive focus on ones personal journey. Supportive of turning tragedies into triumphs and making things happen through active effort, the book hits the target of friendly motivation by inspiring the reader to embody change and channel sexiness.
Overall, the book packs meaning, inspiration, and basic self help substance into a tightly knit short read, easily read through in no more than a day. Language and context made the easy read enjoyable through the understandable content and female to female tone, as if being raged towards inspiration from a girl friend. While the book was enjoyable, the main criticism is to length and desire to have had the content delved into a bit more. Reminiscent of popular reading in modern women's magazines, and perhaps better packaged for that particular medium.
