Review by EternalD -- Cat Detectives in the Korean Penin...
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is a book for children. The plot is quite simple: Inca is a cat who leads a detective "agency" made up of animals. Its "human mom" is a renowned chef who will present a new cheese and serve as a judge in a Korean peninsula culinary competition. From there, the reader will realize that Inca and its friends will be indispensable for everything to happen well during the journey.
The experts are unanimous in saying that for children's books to be good, they must have these four characteristics: the book has to be easy to understand, it has to teach a lesson, it should contain mind-expanding illustrations, the characters must be good, and offer a sense of joy. Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula has all these characteristics.
What I liked the most about this book are the illustrations. They are eye-pleasing, incredibly detailed, and full of variety, making a visually enjoyable experience for kids. The illustrations were perfectly made to portray the constitution of the characters. Just as the detective team looks like a group of pure, kind, and curious animals, the antagonist looks mean and miserly.
I tried to find some negative aspects to mention in my review, but the truth is that there is nothing to be said. There are no grammatical errors, swear words, nor sexual scenes. Obviously, simply because we are talking about a children's book, some facts are evident. Regardless of anything, it is always important to point out when a job is done well.
I have no qualms about recommending this book to kids below eight years. It will teach good moral values and some rudimentary notions of geography. So, and because I found nothing to criticize, Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi achieves a rating of four out of four stars. Kudos to the author.
