Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer’s Guide by William H. Coles is a book that teaches fiction writers how to improve their writing skills and how they can be better writers. The author takes his time to break down terminologies in literature; he also takes his time to explain errors made by some writers and how to correct them. This book is divided into two parts; the first part talks about the fundamentals of literary stories, while the second part deals with guidelines on how to create literary stories.

This book aims to educate its readers in a way that they cannot but feel like they are learning at the feet of a teacher, especially with the effortless way the author explains topics related to literary stories. It shows how well-read the author is, it also shows that he is a master in his field. This is one thing I appreciate so much about this book. Whether you are a writer or just a lover of fiction, the author did a good job of carrying his readers along by using relevant examples to convey his points, so that one is not lost while reading this book at any point.

As a lover of fictional stories, this book has opened my eyes to things I ought to look out for in any literary fiction. The author highlighted different reasons behind some words used by writers, and how these words are meant to make readers feel, which I thought was amazing. The vocabulary used was also something I enjoyed about this book because of its simplicity.

There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this book because it delivered in every sense of the word. This book is meant to enlighten and educate its readers, and I believe it would do just that to anyone who reads it. I noticed only a few errors in this book that could have easily gone unnoticed, which is safe to say that my reading experience was not affected negatively. I am almost certain that this book was professionally edited, and I believe readers will have a great learning experience, this is why I am rating it four out of four stars.

If you are a budding fiction writer or even an established writer that is looking to improve your fiction writing skills, then this book will be of great help to you. Also, if you enjoy reading fictional stories, this book will teach you a thing or two, and it will even help you appreciate fictional stories more.
