Dagger’s Destiny written by Linnea Tanner is a historical fiction and epic fantasy book that is set in the first century AD. It follows the story of the Celtic Kingdoms in Britannia, an illicit love between a princess of one of those kingdoms and a Roman Soldier, dark magic, and a curse inscribed on a dagger. The first scene in the story opens up with King Amren fighting for his life because of an injury inflicted on him by his daughter’s Roman lover during a prisoner exchange. Shortly after being tended to by said daughter, she tells him the truth as to the nature of her relationship with the Roman and how she has magically extended his life (an act that may have been responsible for changing the curse on the dagger back at his palace). Feeling betrayed by his own daughter, he feels that he must dish out the punishment that every one of his treacherous subjects must suffer – death by beheading or by fire.

This daughter of his must find a way to win her father’s heart back and avert her impending doom. But at what cost? Is she willing to give up her love for the Roman? How will she even get started on breaking the curse that prophesies her father’s death?

This novel is as flawless as flawless can be. The action, war, conflict, and emotions kept me glued to its pages. This is my favorite feature in the book. I am a sucker for a good action-filled book any day and Daggers Destiny gave me a healthy dose of that. The author also expertly infused a good deal of romance and a little bit of erotica to titillate the mind.

One other positive feature that I feel obligated to mention is the way the book was edited. Apart from giving her readers a book that entertains and intrigues, the author also did right by herself by ensuring that there were no errors in the book. I am glad that she did this because I have always found spelling and punctuation errors distracting in novels.

As for a feature or thing that I did not like in the novel, I will like to announce that there is none. Even though I wish that the book had a different ending, I will not change it for the world. After giving it much thought, I have decided that every single theme, character, and action taken by the characters in the story worked perfectly for me. There is really nothing to dislike in the novel. This book is perfect for people who enjoy reading novels on romance, war, historical fiction, magic, and epic fantasy. However, sensitive readers should not read this. I say this because of the death, curse words, beheading that are abundant in the novel. There is also a rape scene. So, do not read this book if you are sensitive to books that contain all of the features mentioned above.

This book deserves the 4 out of 4 stars rating that I have decided to give it. As earlier said, the perfect editing and beautiful storyline pulled on the strings of my heart. That is why I decided to give it the highest rating that I can.
