Amanda has just graduated from high school and wants to go to a good university. But she has to settle on a community college because of her not-so-good grades. One day, while coming back from a karate tournament, she and her father get into an accident. That day everything changes for her. She makes a miraculous recovery from the accident. She understands why her six-year-old sister, Saira is always quiet and searching on the internet for something.

Jamie is a good man and a doctor by profession. His wife is cheating on him while he takes care of their son. His son is diagnosed with cancer, and there is nothing that can save him. However, he meets someone willing to help him save his son, but it involves death. Will he take up this offer to save his son? Or the good in him won’t allow him to take such measures? What will he choose?

Rise of the Savior: Acolyte of Truth by Antoine Bonner is a fast-paced fantasy novel. It is a prequel to the Rise of the Hearts series by the same author. It involves an 18-year-old being given responsibilities to save the world from the acolyte of death. There are many things that I like about this book. The dialogues are humorous and entertaining. The course of the relationship between Amanda and her sister Saira is heart-warming. The creative illustrations of deities and their acolytes are remarkable. All these things added up to a good plot and an enjoyable book.

There are several instances in the book that don’t seem logical. For example, Jamie talks about kidnapping kids in front of his own child. A six-year-old child talks and fights like an adult. Also, the sentences in the book are the size of a paragraph. The development of characters is not done properly. The main character acts like a child for more than half the course of the story, and suddenly she transforms into a mature person.

I rate Rise of the Savior: Acolyte of Truth 3 out of 4 stars. Even though the book has a good premise, the negative aspects of the book made me deduce a point. The story has good potential if logic and character development are taken into consideration for thoroughness.

I recommend this book to teens and adults who like fantasy novels. The book is extremely well-edited. I did not come across any grammatical or spelling errors.
