The inmate by Alan P. Woodruff centers around José "Bull" Lopez, leader of motorcycle "gang" club, Lord of Chaos . After an altercation with rival "gang" that led to the fatal shooting of a U.S. Park Service Officer, Lopez is arrested and convicted for the murder and sentenced to life in prison even though he claims he is wrongfully convicted. 12 years later, he claims to have found God in prison and hopes to get his case reopened. He writes to Lucius White, who seems to have a personal vendatta against the government. Mr White agrees to represent him amidst threats to his life. It would appear someone wanted Lopez in prison and would like for it to remain that way.

I picked up this book with a lot of expectations. I hoped to see a lot of gang action/violence but that was not the case.

This is a good old legal thriller with courthouse drama.

However I found it a little slow paced and all over the place. It was hard to stay focused on the plot. It doesn't help that the ending was underwhelming and anticlimactic.

I would rate this book a 2 out of 4 because even though it was a little slow, I still found it a good read.

Fans of John Grisham will enjoy this
