Review of Rediscovering the Wisdom of Human Nature
Rediscovering the Wisdom of Human Nature by Chet Shupe, explains the strife of today’s modern society, how society had been before modernization, and what it might look like to re-route backwards. According to Shupe, the population has been led astray long ago with the initial indoctrination of institutions. Evolving institutions have since destroyed the way mankind relates to each other and to nature. Continuing to follow the hierarchy, money driven civilization we recognize today will eventually lead to catastrophic consequences.
Fortunately for humanity, there is recourse to consider. We are reminded of how early generations thrived without modern developments. Shupe points to the nature within mankind, the stirrings of the Spirit, as a reference to inspire human interactions as opposed to institutional regulations and law systems. In order to reintroduce ourselves to the wisdom of human nature, mankind must replace the new world order with the original outline. Reverting back to nature means redefining our relationships with each other and ultimately strengthening them for spiritual fulfillment and survival. Shupe recognizes the drastic shift necessary for major change like this to take place but helps us to imagine how that transition might begin.
Rediscovering the wisdom of human nature offers perspective beyond the ordinary guidelines to life. I appreciate the author for not holding back his convictions for the sake of pacifying the reader. Chet Shupe bravely speaks out against the general population’s belief system and supports his arguments with compelling facts that could inspire real change.
I am intrigued that Shupe himself was spontaneously inspired to shift his own way of thinking. He performed as an electronics engineer whom, in the past, aided in the construction of dangerous weapons for the sake of our country. He was awoken from such ambitions after realizing the error in modern tactics. Needless to say, he has since changed his approach to society. Shupe’s mental wiring as an engineer displays through his brilliant delivery of the modern-day plight.
There are some potential cons about this book, for instance, it is oftentimes opinion based and sometimes blatantly speculative. For those who are not moved by language other than typical logic and facts, this can be demotivating. Also, the content is repetitive which can be a little derailing for those who prefer a stream of new and solid points to support a strong claim.
I rate this book a 4 out 4 for the amount of courage and initiative that it took to produce. The content is eye-opening, inspiring, and an over-all good read.
Rediscovering the wisdom of human nature is not disappointing if you are on a similar journey as the author. I recommend this book if you are open to thought provoking perspectives such as this one. It is likely readers will fully embrace this content or disregard it as asinine. Whichever way you as the reader might sway, be prepared to be moved.
