Review of Solaris Seethes (Solaris Saga book 1)
Janet McNulty is quite a talented writer. Her use of the English language in Solaris Seethes is fascinating to read. The way she uses descriptive words used and how she places them in the sentences help make the story that much more compelling. When reading this adventure-packed book, my mind was playing out like a movie because it was so easy to just see it playing out. This is one of those books that was hard to put down and not want to finish in one night.
What do time travel, space, and pirates all have in common? That it all has the touch of Solaris and Rynah in every part. Solaris Seethes is where we find Rynah having to deal with fighting for her life and the lives of her very unique crew. Let’s see if Rynah can handle all that space has to offer her in this race for the salvation of her planet and people.
Solaris Seethes is a genially good book to read. I had a hard time putting it down and not finishing it in one day. This is just one of those books that have enough crossing genres that it can be really good for multiple people. The time travel and space themes firmly put it in the sci-fi genre, it has just enough of the fantasy of adventure to put it in that fantasy genre. It is something that pulls people in from both sides of that genre line. That just makes it a really good book for the done shelf of satisfying reads we all have. McNulty also has a way to describe something that paints a very clear image while reading, using descriptive words along the lines of dark crimson or the sun instead of just saying dark red and yellow.
While I have been preaching the praises for this book, there are a few things that can take from the book. Mainly that at times I felt I was reading something for high school-aged individuals. However, the subject matter for the book had me putting this book with someone that is 18+ for the subject matter alone. It has violence and death like all action-packed adventures have, it also has adult-themed conversations that pop up from time to time. While nothing is said outright and is heavily implied anyone with a mature mindset can pick up on it easily.
During the reading of this book, I found only one very mild curse word and one grammar error that is very easy to overlook. Due to that and how much I just really like this book and look forward to the others in the series, I am going to give this a 4 out of 4. I choose this rating for the fact that the one grammar error doesn’t mess with the sentence flow and is so hard to find that you would need to look.
