Last Words From Above: Medicine for the Spirit is a self-help book written by Jeremy Brown in the form of quotes. It contains spiritual, motivational, and reflective values to support human soul development. Brown introduced this book as the source of meditation upon God. It is intended not just to be a book of thought-provoking and inspirational quotes but also an experience. The spiritual aspect of the book is indeed more associated with the values of Christianity. But many non-spiritual discussions touch social aspects more meticulously. So everyone can relate to this book.

In the opening section of this book, the writer used a disclaimer that not all the quotes in this book will fit our values. But if we find the ones that are, we are encouraged to memorize and cherish them as if they come from above. Meditating on thoughts poured into meaningful quotes is something intriguing for me. I saw it as a source of repairing the flaws in me to improve myself. I have often gained new values from reading meaningful quotes. It's like an activity to put so many human perspectives into my life and try to deal with them. I believe dealing with various perspectives will give us the benefits.

Talking about quotes, I believe that words can be more powerful when they contain messages to transmit positive energy to others. This kind of positive message can motivate people to try or improve their lives better, such as "The day that you know everything and abandon learning. You also abandon what is necessary for survival and growth.". Additionally, making sense of a message in the quotes can also lead us to our principles for the truth. For example, when we are tired of the injustice in society, and we don't have the power to change it. We start losing hope, and we are stuck in a loathing world. But this quote reminds me of something more essential than growing hatred in my mind, like "Plated gold can shine just like pure gold, but when placed on fire for the melting-down process, the truth will show.".

Reading quotes makes me feel compelled to believe that one day the truth will reveal. The positive quotes will automatically connect our soul to the spiritual values we believe. There will be greater trust in us that God will show who is right and who is wrong. When we do not have someone to counsel us to be wiser, finding a quotation that fits our condition will be more effective to maintain ourselves. Moreover, reading quotes will not make us feel judged. In this process, we try to reflect on ourselves, then begin to correct our flaws.

After reading this book, I believe that people who read these quotes want to increase their quality. Being a better person is a need for those who always want to improve. It also gave me a life-study concept, especially in addressing the life issues I was experiencing. I am substantially fond of this book. But for the editorial, I'm not comfortable with the writing style on which the subject is not more specific into several chapters. There are two thousand-one quotes presented without being classified into some themes. The book seems professionally edited. Based on these considerations, I give Last Words From Above: Medicine for the Spirit a rating of three out of four stars. I recommend this book to people who always want to improve their qualities and learn more about perspective on life.
