This book intrigued me based on the plot and I did not expect the story to be completely different from my imagination. The characters in the book gave quite a performance, especially the main character. She was very confused with herself and at times I was frustrated yet intrigued by her train of thought which is probably why I read it till the end. Zia is one character that you would be very irritated with, based on the choices she chose I was captivated. Her love interests were also two characters that would be hard to find in real life. In each of her love interest have this great love for her but are completely different.
What was good about Chameleons was how the story flowed, at first, I was not sure of the way it began. But as I continued to read it became more interesting. Once Zia started figuring out who she was and what she wanted the plot thickened. Up until the end of the story, the plot stayed on its course and captivated me as a reader. And I love Bryce, he is one of a kind and a character that should be in every book, and I think that readers would find Bryce appealing also.
One negative aspect about Chameleons, and this might be my personal opinion. But Zia the main character annoyed me at many parts of the book. Because she was focused on herself a lot more than others and even though she might have wanted redemption, she did not seem very serious about committing to changing what ongoing problems she had. And she created those problems so that explains why I was annoyed at certain points about her character.
Onyx Gold has a vivid imagination, while I was reading this book, I found myself in the story and connected to the characters. I rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars because I enjoyed reading the book and was pleasantly surprised by the beginning and middle parts of the book. I would say that there were some parts where my predictions were true and the author went out of their way to give suspense and surprised. However, I feel that close to the end I was baffled and confuse with the main character yet again. She may have done what she needed for survival but there were other options. But I did enjoy the book since it was exceptionally well-edited.
