Review of How To Be Successful
He survived a malignant tumor while battling therapy and seizures, yet he never stopped improving himself and his business. In his book, M.Curtis McCoy tells us How To Be Successful based on his experience and what he went through to reach the point he is at now. He tries to tell his story while giving advice and encouraging people to never stop or give up on themselves. The book also contains other successful people's life tales and their ideas on living the best life for you and your family, and your business; what you need to do, what you should do, or better yet, what you have to do to thrive in your physical, financial, and spiritual life.
I really enjoyed reading this book and listening to what people went through to reach levels in their lives where they are more than satisfied. The author has done a marvelous job of interviewing a variety of people and giving diversity in jobs and life paths so many people could relate to anyone that resembles them. The author's writing style is very easy to read and the book's structure is simple because he divides each advice or question into his own paragraph or its own question and answer. The book emphasizes the importance of believing in yourself and keeping your faith alive and strong, because, without these two, you will not be able to reach anywhere and will get stuck doubting yourself and cursing people who got where you wanted to go.
What I didn't like about the book was the repetition. He sometimes repeats himself and his advice many times, to the point where you could figure out what he was going to say next. That's about all that I didn't like because I feel like life stories are too personal to be judged by other people. No one has the right to judge what someone else has been through.
I would rate this book a 3 out of 4 because of the repetition and some common advice that you would already know. Other than that, it was not an utter masterpiece to justify my 4 stars. However, it was very well edited, even though it contained profane language. Half of it was censored. It does not contain any sexual content.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is planning on starting a business. who wants some encouragement, to read other people's stories will give you hope that you could succeed as well.
