Review of The Bird Ride
[Following is a volunteer review of "The Bird Ride" by Wade W. Bergner.]
The Bird Ride by Wade W. Bergner is a children’s book about emotional health. The story begins with a young boy playing outside with his toy cars, imagining that he is travelling to different places around the world. A blue bird lands close to him and after staring at the bird, the boy feels a connection with it. The bird grows until it is big enough for the boy to ride and takes him on an unforgettable flight.
Flying over the area, the boy sees auras around all of the people. He sees that children have bright colors and adults have darker colors. He also notices that the children are often doing what they love, while the adults are not. Why did the bird approach the boy? And what did the boy learn?
This book contained some important life lessons. The bird helped to show the boy how to live in the moment and how to let go and enjoy life. It also included words of insight such as, “The little act of choosing a different more pleasant thought could and would change her world.” The story also contains information about unconditional love, or the giving and receiving of love without conditions attached, something that adults don’t often do.
I enjoyed that these valuable lessons were presented in a way that is digestible for younger children. However, there were some instances when the book felt a little preachy, which I found to be a little off-putting. But it is difficult to try and convey life lessons like these without being a bit preachy. I really enjoyed the art style of the illustrations and felt that they greatly added to the story.
The Bird Ride by Wade W. Bergner gets a 4 out of 4 stars rating from me. I only found one minor error that didn’t detract from the book. This work would be suitable for children ages four and up, and it would be an excellent work for parents and caregivers wanting to discuss emotional health with their children.

these sounds like some important lessons for children to learn and maybe even for adults to remember. the art looks cool as well and emotional health is a very important topic.
