E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is an exciting read. Kelly McBride and Sgt. Tom Turbulo are on their honeymoon in Honduras when they stumble upon a group of terrorists. While her husband Tom is out on a dive boat, Kelly decides to go on a tour and do a little sightseeing. When the tour bus stops at a local store called the Pigsty, Kelly goes looking for souvenirs and gifts to take back home. Ready to pay. She looks for the shopkeeper, who is no longer in sight. Kelly calls out to the shopkeeper, and with no response, she goes looking for him in the back of the shop. She stumbles across a room with many computers and plans to attack North America. Kelly suddenly finds herself fighting off an attacker and running for her life. In a panic, she calls her brother Senator McBride who sends out a few agents to protect Kelly and Tom. Kelly and Tom work together with these agents and try to gather intel on the terrorists and stop them from succeeding with their planned attack.

I found this to be a fascinating story to read. I love how the author was able to take such a serious subject and turn it into a novel that is interesting, funny, and even added a little romance. The author did much research when drafting this story and even added a source and research section at the end of the book for the readers. Also, I was pleasantly surprised by the wording used in this book. The author did not use profane words. The worst word I found was heck, and the endearments used were things like honey and dear. It was such a humble and sweet way of writing that is different from other novels nowadays.

There were a few negatives to what I also considered to be positive. For example, the humble use of words was lovely. I liked it a lot, but then there were certain scenes where it just did not fit. Like when Steve, a CIA agent, used the words "I am in deep doo-doo." I thought this was a bit silly and did not match the agent's personality. The female terrorist, Su-Jin, was portrayed as a strong and confident woman who was intelligent. Still, every time she speaks to Steve, she becomes flustered. At one point in the story, she becomes afraid of the men she commands, seeing her out with a man. Most of the time, she acts like a teenage girl rather than a high-ranking officer in charge of a team of terrorists.

I am giving this book 3 out of 4 stars because I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story, and it taught me a lot. Unfortunately, I will deduct one star because of the few issues I had with how some characters spoke, which did not match their personalities. I also found a few minor grammar errors in the writing but nothing that most people would quickly notice.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an adventure story with light romance, and readers interested in technology, warfare, terrorism, and espionage will also like this book.
