Review of E M P Honeymoon
Can a honeymoon getaway that is supposed to be a time of blocking the world out and sleeping in the arms of your new spouse turn into a horror story where the bad guys have an elaborate plan to win? Even though most people would say no and laugh it off, Kelly proved to us that that can happen. After innocently walking into a souvenir shop to pick up some stuff, she catches a glimpse of what may be the map of North America and plans to destroy her home continent. Against most people’s better judgment, she and her husband, Tom, together with three other people, decide to take these bad guys down. But with no knowledge of what exactly was being planned, how can they stop these evildoers in their tracks? That seems to be the question of the century. But the answer is buried deep within the pages of one of Dorothy May Mercer’s greatest works yet – E M P Honeymoon.
Dorothy May Mercer aptly named this novel E M P Honeymoon. I find the name both funny and interesting. But what I really like is the fact that the main meat of the story is right there in the name. Another thing that I like about this novel is the fact that it is a standalone novel. I saw characters from a book that I think is its prequel, but I didn't have to read that to understand these characters or their purpose. These are some of the things that I liked in the novel.
But now I'd like to talk about what I liked best about E M P Honeymoon. And that is how Dorothy May Mercer adeptly mixed light-humored scenes with suspense-laden ones that saw a lot of conflicts. This style of writing is unique and much appreciated. As someone who gets worked up easily when faced with conflict, the tension almost always becomes too much for me to bear, and this is the same when I am reading a book. But the rhythm followed by the author from the beginning till the end made the suspenseful times more bearable.
I didn't dislike anything about E M P Honeymoon. I guess it is because I was so engrossed in everything that was happening that I didn't notice anything wrong with the book. The truth is that I wished that the book never came to an end and that its sequel would continue right where this novel stopped, but I doubt that that would be the case. So, I liked everything in E M P Honeymoon, just as I liked everything in Dorothy May Mercer's other books that I have read so far.
Finally, I rate this novel titled E M P Honeymoon 4 out of 4 stars and the justification for this is simply the fact that I liked it all and enjoyed the experience and ride that Dorothy May Mercer took me on. E M P Honeymoon is a book I recommend to readers who are interested in books about terrorists and how those who have sworn to fight them respond to their attacks.
