Ironing by Navajo is a work of fiction that begins with three college girls, Emma, Royanda, and Ginie who seem to be having a good time. They board a bus heading to East London to watch the greyhound races. Their dialogues with the other passengers on the bus are humorous. Emma talks about the things her mother tells her and all the other girls believe Emma's mother is crazy, but she insists that she loves her the way she is.
She attempts to eat raw frozen chicken leg since her mother believes that processed food is full of chemicals, poison, and artificial additives that send people crazy. When they get to the stadium, Emma is determined to pet the dogs, she sneaks through the fence to where the dogs have been kept. Read the story and learn what happens next.

Samira calls her father excited that she is getting married to Roger. This does not excite Huefara since he believes that her daughter should marry a nice English boy. Samira's mother is not amused by her husband's remarks. She believes that he is a hypocrite since he eats bacon, drinks BrewDog and works on Fridays yet he wants Samira to marry a Muslim. When he visits his old friend Stan to discuss the issue, he advises him to support Samira and explain his reservations about their different religions and the effect it would have on their children.

Emma's teacher Campbell finds himself in trouble for calling Hazel a Prevent officer. Robert tries to protect him from his boss Greg who believes he is a dangerous man, his file is kept under the scrutiny pile. Peter is thrown out of the house by his mum, because of staying idle and smoking weed. He moves to Ahmed's house who also advises him to get a job.

The book covers real-life happenings such as parenting, college life, and blind dating. When Caitlin gets saddened by the story of a young boy being mistreated by her mother, she decides to drain her sorrow by joining a Dating App, she meets three men, two of whom seem to be only interested in her physique. The description of college girls left me with a proper mental image of their character.

The book has many subplots which end abruptly, most of the characters appear and disappear suddenly. It also has a few typos and grammar errors and some degree of profanity. Therefore, I recommend it only for those who don't mind profane language. Other than the above issues, it's a hilarious book for those who love works of fiction. I rate this book two out of four stars.
