Review of The Different Kinds Of Monsters
The world is full of monsters, most of whom are not ghosts or demons. But men. Everyman has a monster that he is struggling with, it could be anger, hate, lust and so on, and he has to keep it at bay. Other people get hurt when some people can't control their inner monster.
The book The Different Kinds Of Monsters by Seth Chambers is a story of love and sacrifice. Dylan strode to continue in his father's footsteps of staying away from his family as a way to protect them from Emily, the monstrous dinosaur. But in the end, he discovers that he was actually staying away in order to protect his daughter from the monster within him.
The book actually has a lot of positive aspects. First, Seth is a very good writer, he knows how to use words to paint pictures, stir emotions and steer the reader on an adventure. I love his use of literary techniques, especially poetry, to pass his message across to his readers. I found his use of poetry in narration quite engaging and creative. It kept me more and more interested as I read.
The structure of the storyline is something I found commendable. The author put a great deal of effort into creating the plot of the story. It wasn't something that was scribbled up while passing time or watching the television. Some of the things that the author wrote about especially about the dinosaurs, although fictional, seemed so real, coupled with that he employed a first person narrative style; hence it was just like I was witnessing events firsthand from the lenses of Dylan. Also I love how the author ran three stories at different timelines simultaneously; when Dylan was six years old, the late Jurassic period and Dylan's early fifties. The author managed the storylines at different timelines well with the use of flashbacks. This and other techniques that the author employed in the book, made the story interesting and fun for me to read.
I also enjoyed learning new things from the book, especially facts about dinosaurs. The book is both interesting and mind stimulating.
There was absolutely nothing that I disliked about the book.
The editors did a great job. I only found two errors in the entire book. I'd rate the book four out of four stars .
The book is filled with lots of adventures and fantasies. I had a lot of fun reading it. I'd recommend it to anybody who loves reading books on Science fiction filled with adventures and fantasies.
