The Date Farm is a crime thriller by Jack Winnick. Jack Winnick is one author who seems to have found his niche in writing crime thriller books centred around terrorism. He managed to paint a picture of what it took both the terrorists and the law enforcers to fulfil their goals. It takes time, skills, and a lot of money to do so. With this book, the Mossad and FBI are at the forefront of fighting those who are trying to cause terrorism in the United States, and Lara and Uri are the ones leading from both these law enforcement intelligence agencies. This book is nothing short of exciting and entertaining.

People in the mall are busy with their businesses when men wearing black clothes get inside, walking with determination and purpose. Then, all of a sudden, gunfire is heard throughout the mall. It is those men. They are the terrorists. They shoot and kill and injure everyone who is in their way. After the police are called and are waiting outside to proceed, the terrorists shout, “Allahu Akhbar,” and kill themselves.

Uri and Lara just got married. Lara, although she is technically still with the FBI, she is now the adjacent agent of the Mossad with her husband, Uri. But they are now in Ohio. Uri is still marvelling at this wet Summer that is so unlike the one back home where it is hot and dry. While enjoying their small vacation, a phone call comes in. They inform them about the attack at the mall in Los Angeles. They are to report for duty immediately.

Meanwhile, Fijaz and Abidin, the two terrorists who planned all of this, are again planning to do a heist on Manhattan Reserve Bank. Although it is known that there is gold stored there, what they are about to steal is more important than that. What is that they want to steal? While Lara and Uri are busy trying to solve the Beverly Hills Massacre, will they catch on early that there is more to what meets the eye about this? Are they willing to put their lives on the lines for millions of innocent people?

This book was just wow! I could not believe it. It was action after action. When it opened up, I thought the momentum would get lost as the book went on, but that wasn’t the case. It kept on climbing and climbing. I was just enjoying myself. The dialogue made for a perfect breather. It gave you a chance to get up and maybe take a pee or fetch the snack.

Lara and Uri were professional people who never failed to amaze me. They were straight-up unbelievable. The level of professionalism they displayed blew my mind off. People who believe in destiny will love their relationship. They will definitely say they were made for each other. Lara and Uri understood each other with ease. One didn’t have to do a lot to be understood by the other. The teamwork they displayed was commendable. They have never fought with each other. On the field, they totally meant business. Not for a second did they let their personal lives glitch with their professional ones.

The author worked wonders on the characterisation. Although this is a fourth book in the Uri and Lara series, it can still be read as a standalone. The author recapped the backstories of Uri and Lara so people who happened to read this book first would understand them and where they come from. But at the same time, if you have read the other books, you won’t get bored with what you already know about these characters. It takes skills for an author to accomplish this.

There is nothing I disliked about this book. It met and even exceeded my expectations. The dialogue and narration were balanced so well that you will feel included in the book. You will not feel like you are outside looking in through the window. The descriptions were vivid. When guns were going off, it was like I was watching a film. But at the same time, they left some for my imagination.

With all said, I am proud to rate this book four out of four stars. There are couple of errors, but not enough to affect the quality of the book. Sex scene are not explicit. I strongly recommend it to people who love action and thrillers, mystery and suspense. It will never fail to keep them on their toes, especially when it comes to that material they are planning to steal from the Manhattan Reserve Bank. When they were chasing each other across the sea, it was pure magic because anything could happen at that moment.
