Four men have been buddies since their college days when they discussed taking an all-male journey across the world but never took the plunge. Their lives have altered dramatically over the years. They have careers and are in secure relationships, but one phone call irrevocably transformed their lives and the lives of their families.

Man Mission is an engaging story of four mates who intend to traverse the world while roughing it. They go to other countries and engage in extreme adventures to show their manhood. The plot also incorporates their personal life, professions, and relationships. Man Mission takes place in a period of fifteen years and depict the growth and deterioration of their relationships and how quickly life changes. Eytan Uliel, the author, took us on an exciting, fun-filled, adventurous, and dangerous experience as we learned about the connections of friendship, the challenges men face daily, and how they cope with them.

The core plot was engaging and relatable. The firsthand story of a guy attempting to meet society's expectations of how a man should be and act provided me with insight into what males face daily. He has to struggle with an unsatisfactory profession only to keep his family nourished while not having enough time to be with his family. Having an unsatisfying marriage and insecurities like any other individual, but being reluctant to express them since it would be deemed unmanly. The book made me realize that society has established unattainable standards for men while not allowing them to fall when they need to. The narrative made me sympathize with the characters and root for him to achieve his goals.

The author provided detailed information on the countries they visited. A jungle safari in South Africa, ice climbing in Iceland, cycling across Vietnam, and trekking in Machu Picchu, to name a few. The realism of the native cuisine they encountered while traveling, including kava shots in Fiji, gave the book an actual realistic feel. The characters also interacted with a large number of locals. This book is in the style of a tour guide, with interjections of anecdotes from their own lives.

I rate this book 4 stars out of 4. The author captivated me with an action-packed journey while emotionally investing in the characters. I would recommend this to men who want to travel and rough it in the outdoors since it would be a great travel guide while also allowing them to relate to the life of other men.
