Review of The Drug-Free Sleep Solution: The Four-Week Program for Overcoming Insomnia Using Cognitive Behavioral Therap
The Drug-Free Sleep Solution: The Four-Week Program for Overcoming Insomnia Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy by David Durocher is a practical guide about methods to holistically address sleep issues. The author has studied psychology and has overcome insomnia himself, using this book as a tool to share the techniques he compiled to help others do the same. Durocher shares how to address sleep hygiene, overcome negative thoughts, and rule out depression and anxiety. The author begins by breaking down the basic facts about insomnia laying a foundation for addressing personal issues and figuring out the proper sleep therapeutic technique for everyone. To read his practical guide and through personal application helped reduce stress in my life, you won’t want to miss reading this book.
David Durocher formulated a short plan for facing sleep obstacles by living through and conquering them himself. Durocher delivers the material in a simple method to adhere to the burnout and brain fog feeling deriving from sleep deprivation or neglect. I took my time with this practical guide to fully apply the methods and understand why the author included each point, and by taking this extended time I was better able to apply the recommendations to my own life.
Struggling with a consistent sleep schedule, somedays not sleeping at all in the pursuit of goals, or overthinking the future led me to this guide. Durocher’s book stands as precedence of how even simply understood material elicits thought-provocation and habitual change. The style of writing was enjoyable because the guide provides a simple and thorough exploration into why an individual struggle to sleep. My favorite aspect of the guide arose in the inclusion of helpful tools that I was able to take my time using to fully appreciate the progress I have made during this time. The author personally understands what poor sleep quality does to an individual and provides the information in a means to allow the reader to begin the journey to optimizing their sleep hygiene.
I can honestly say there wasn’t anything I disliked about this book. This book holds all the elements of an enjoyable read for self-development. I stayed engaged with the various tactics and explanations as to why I struggle to sleep consistently provided in 96 pages comprehensible means to overcome this struggle.
For the calming and informative writing that is exceptionally written and edited, I graciously rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to those who cannot quite figure out how to sleep well and need help gaining peace in their nights. Those who want all the viable solutions in one place and want to take back control over their bedtimes. The readers who want to wake up energized and excited for the day, because of more peaceful sleep at night would thoroughly enjoy this book.
