A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is an autobiographical memoir. This memoir is filled with intriguing and interesting details. Dr. Berrah was a scholar, diplomat, and freedom fighter who was disciplined and determined in his pursuit of peace. He was born in Algeria and had a passion for the liberation of his native Algeria. He also had a broader vision of peace for the continent of Africa. As a scholar, he made a significant contribution to the field of Biology while studying in the United States. Dr.Berrah, as a diplomat, worked closely with President Houphoet of Cote D'Ivoire to improve dialogue and relations among African nations, especially in times of crisis.

Dr.Berrah also shared numerous details about his familial ties. He wrote candidly about his struggles, disappointments, and achievements during his lifetime. In the end, Dr. Berrah and his wife spent his retirement in the United States, even assisting in the presidential campaign of a former president who also shares African ancestry.

There were several positive aspects of this memoir. I found it to be insightful, educational, and humorous. I found the details about the author's diplomatic missions to be educational and insightful. I appreciated the details about the historical and everyday challenges faced by Africans in the colonial and post-colonial eras. I found the details about the role of armed freedom fighters interesting to read. The memoir was well-written as I found only minor errors and it was easy to understand for the most part. I like the inclusion of photos with several heads of state as helped with verification. Their inclusion was interesting. I appreciated the use of footnotes that helped me understand certain aspects of the memoir better. I liked the candid and personal stories that made the memoir relatable and unique. I found this memoir enjoyable. I liked the moments of humor that the author highlighted. I appreciated the wealth of information about diplomatic dialogue and the role it plays in the peace process. I liked that the author highlighted the qualities of these influential individuals and how they impacted decision-making.

The main issue for me was that I thought the words could have been simplified in some instances.

I found the book's editing to be very good and I found only minor errors.

I gave the book a 4 out of 4 rating, it was insightful, educational, candid, authentic, and relatable. It was insightful because of the quality and nature of the detail in the memoir. It was candid, educational, authentic, and relatable because of the specific, impactful, and verified details.

This memoir should appeal to many readers. It may be especially appealing to people who have an interest in academics. People who like autobiographies and memoirs may find this to be an excellent choice.
