Review of Deviancy
If you're interested in a book which will tell you about psychopathic killers who killed and tortured random people for fun, this book will be great for you. Today we are talking about Deviancy by Rose Linderman, Psy. D. So let's get right into it.
The book begins with the introduction of Lewis Weller, a man who killed Anne Tolbar, a citizen of the colony Lewis worked at. He did that because she saw Lewis packing up the body of a man into his car's trunk. Lewis was trying to steal from that man's house and when he found out Lewis killed him off as well. And just like this, in one incident, Lewis killed County John Doe because of the fun of killing. He placed the body of John in a coffin and named someone else on it and cremated it as soon as possible. And made the killing so presentable an accident that it took the police months to find out that he was murdered not dies in an accident. Then there is Dr. Susan Kasson. A psychological doctor who interviews different psychopath criminals to know what was going on in their mind while they committed the crime and why did they even do it. If you want to learn more about John Doe's case and different criminal's psychological thoughts you should definitely check out this book.
The thing that I liked about this book is how the chapters in it are so small and content. I find a book which a chapter of like 20-30 pages and it in itself feels like a short story that kind of starts to feel boring by the end. But in this a chapter is 2-5 pages long and very interesting. You'll not feel bored at all reading the book. The language used by the author is pretty simple to comprehend and you won't feel any difficulty reading it. The author's choice of words are quite interesting as well. There is a bit of profanity in it as it is expected from a book of this sort.
The storyline is quite mind grabbing and the case of John Doe is going to keep you hooked till the end. The author has done a great job in keeping us interested throughout the book with little side stories of different killers as well. I really liked that aspect too. There is vulgarity and erotic scene in it as well. So I wouldn't want little kids near this book. And I didn't find any grammatical mistakes in it so I think it was very well edited too.
One thing I did notice was that the author used 'Louis' and 'Lewis' interchangeably throughout the book and I don't know if it was intentional or not. It didn't break my flow of reading or anything but it's just something that I noticed throughout the book.
In the end, I would like to give this book 4 out of 4 stars because of it interesting storyline and captivating scenes. I did not find anything to hate in it. I would recommend it to people who like psychological thriller genre and want to read something new and exciting.
