Double Redemption. The story of Mike and Emma by Frances Gene Collins is a romance novel that tells the story of Mike and Emma, two young adults in their late 20's, who had a casual encounter at a parking lot where they both reside, a condo located somewhere in California. This fortuitous casual encounter leads to such an amazing relationship. From the very beginning, they just felt some connection that they did not comprehend or explain at first, but they were inexplicably aware of the fact that something more profound was coming their way. They manage to get to know each other, even though they were really evasive about their own stories and their background since they both had such a difficult and traumatic childhood and adulthood. As far as chapters keep going, they discover they have so many things in common and they are more alike than they would have ever thought of. Emma by profession is an English literature professor and Mike is a mysterious character, at first we all thought he was a mechanic, but later we discovered how well educated and highly informed he was and we also discovered his profession or professions. The story is developed from three perspectives , the first being a narration of Mike's childhood and early adulthood, the second being Mike's to the present day and the final narration being Emma's childhood and young adulthood to the present day.

The story is well written from the very beginning. I could tell that the author did a phenomenal job writing this book. It is so well written that it really captivated my interest and my admiration. The author's command of the English language makes it such an interesting book to read. Even though the story is narrated from three different perspectives, it has been developed so perfectly that it is very easy to read and to follow when you jump from one perspective to another one from chapter to chapter. Once you begin reading this book, you basically become so engrossed in it, to the point it is very difficult to put it down since you wish to know what happens in the next chapter. You wish to satiate your curiosity to the point that you continually wish to know more and more about Emma's and Mike's childhoods, what happened that made them be the way they are. For instance, you wish to find out what Mike's profession is. You are willing to find out more about that connection they share, what they have in common and how this story is going to end. I also enjoyed the fact that the author talks about literature, the Marine Corps, self respect, how to be persistent in all things and never surrender. I have definitely learnt a lot from this book. A combination of things I was not familiar with, coupled with things I had forgotten. We see the internal struggle of both characters, their emotions and how they managed to get along with it and to survive under their particular circumstances. Once you begin reading this narration, you will not be able to put it aside, you will keep going until the very last part, an astonished surprise Francis Gene Collins just kept for the closing of the story. I am positive you will adopt one of these characters and you identify yourself with many aspects of their lives.

I only found one error while I was reading so I can state the book's exceptional editing and narration. There is nothing I disliked about this book beyond the fact that sometimes the author stopped one story to jump to another while I wanted to know more, which made me a little distracted but, of course, this is intentional as it keeps you more captivated and interested in the whole narration and makes you read it with breathless attention in order to quickly find out what was going to happen next.

Considering all this I am very pleased to rate this book four out of four stars. I enjoyed the book immensely, all aspects of it. From the first chapter, right to the final chapter, there was never a dull moment. The author offered a very interesting and captivating book, with a magnificent edition and narration.

I would strongly recommend this book to lovers of romance, and people who want a captivating story about self respect, love, good manners and personal growth. One of the best books I have read in a long time and I am positive you will enjoy and love this book as much as I did.
