Review of Seeking... Finding... Healing...
Have you ever been in a dire situation where you just felt like your past was holding you back? Does it seem like all the memories of all the past hurts and pains keep replaying in your mind? Well, a lot of people are in this situation, bound to their pasts and not free to move on to the future they've anticipated. The author of Seeking... Finding... Healing..., Becky Lynn Jackson, went through the same too.
Seeking... Finding... Healing... by Becky Lu Jackson is a nonfiction book about inner healing through visualization and meditation. Becky talked about all the challenges she was having in her life. She saw that these issues were coming from the trauma she had experienced in her past. She decided to revisit these experiences to resolve them through meditation.
Whenever she wanted to deal with an issue, she would recall how old she was when she first experienced the issue. Then, through visualization, she would interact with her younger self to get her healing. She did this for the different problems she was facing, visiting her younger self, which she called her inner family, leading to her freedom.
The book is filled with her experiences and those of others which she shared throughout the book. She gave vivid and honest descriptions of the events in her life and the process she went through to get her inner healing. I could relate to Becky, seeing that I had struggled with an addiction to pornography too. I felt miserable but could not just quit it. I didn't know I was doing some of the things this book talked about, but I had to trace the problem down to my past. I found out that I felt pornography made me powerful. It was as if I needed to prove I was powerful. When I saw this, I then validated that I was indeed already powerful with no need to chase after it. I got free of it.
I liked that Becky was honest with her experiences, making it easy for me to relate to what she went through. Another beautiful thing that made me enjoy the book was the experiences of other people she shared. It had a huge impact on me. For one, it made me see that her method of using meditation for inner healing can work for anybody. She gave a script of the meditation process to help the readers go through theirs, which was superb too.
I disliked nothing about the book; it was simple to read and understand. No use of overly complicated words. I found it easy to follow through, unlike some spiritual books, which tend to get kind of spooky along the way. I didn't notice any typos in the book. That would mean it was exceptionally well-edited. Thus, I would rate the book a four out of four stars.
I recommend this book to people who have gone through traumatic experiences. Even people going through them right now will find it helpful, provided they don't have issues with reading a spiritual book or issues with visualization and meditation. If they follow the instructions, they will most likely be free soon.
