Poppy Mortimer's book 28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humorous Memoir, is a fascinating and hilarious memoir. Poppy tells us about the worst 28 dates she had while hunting for the ideal person for her. Despite the fact that these are the worst dates she's ever heard, they're also hilarious.

Poppy Mortimer was a 38-year-old lady who had been on the dating site for 20 years. With that much experience, it's apparent that the author had a lot of humorous anecdotes to tell about her many dates with these men. Despite the fact that she went on numerous dates, she never let them become the centre of her life. She was able to be successful in her life, despite all the bad dates she went on. She gave various names to the guys she wanted to go on dates with within each chapter, such as Mr. Strong Man, Mr. Fodder, Mr. Tunnel of Terror, and so on.

This book appealed to me since the author utilized a conservative and approachable writing style. As I read the book, I had the impression that I was conversing with a friend. She also did a fantastic job of giving the men she went on dates with unique and amusing names. As I got more aware of the names she provided to those men, my intrigue grew. What I liked best about this book was that, as much as she talked about her various, amusing dates, she didn't neglect to mention and warn people about the dangers of meeting people on a dating site.

When I first saw the cover of this book, I knew I was going to appreciate it because it included some humour. That's when I got even more eager to read it, since I wanted to know everything there was to know about these tragic days. The order of events in this book is sequential. This book was eye opening since, as much as she talked about her bad dates, the reader could equally extract her own lesson from each chapter. There was nothing about this book that I didn't like. The author did an excellent job of injecting humour into this novel and as a bonus, she made sure that she exceptionally edits her book so I wasn't constantly interrupted by grammatical errors.

This book has a 4 out of 4 stars rating from me. I encourage it to ladies who wish to attempt online dating so that they would know what to anticipate and what to do if they find themselves in the same situations that the author did. I also encourage it to ladies who have previously signed up for dating services but are having difficulty finding the right partner for them.
