How did you learn to cook?

I learned from my grandmother. I grew up cooking, and baking right next to her. These memories mean the world to me. I am still able to enjoy her cooking, and I surprise my grandparents with meals often. Normally for special occasions they request my lasagna. Cook books and internet. Growing up, our parents isn't really into home cooking, since they were both extremely busy. We pretty much eat instant food everyday.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I will say I'm a 7. I'm still in the process of learning. My mother would make me come into the kitchen and watch what she's doing. But to be honest, I don't really learn much from watching her, I end up forgetting. But I do better when I watch videos and practice myself.

I learned how to cook by following my mum to the kitchen when I was young. I normally follow her to the kitchen whenever she wants to cook and as time goes on I know how to cook little by little but now I'm a good cook

My mother had to leave to work so I started making food for my brother. I have fallen in love with it ever since.

I don't enjoy cooking but I had to learn because it's a necessity. Most of the dishes, I learnt by calling my parents and grandmother. They share their recipes and tell me how I have to cook and then I cook.

As I got older and had to stay alone, there was a need for me to provide for myself so since then I've been experimenting with cooking.

I am still learning to cook, despite nearing middle-age. I've always been a baker, but cooking is a different animal because it's so much more intuitive. I didn't know how to tell if something "tasted right" (or how to fix it if not) until I just started experimenting. I usually start with a recipe (like the baker I will always be deep down) and then add or subtract ingredients based on what I know I've liked or disliked in the past. My cooking skills are very much a work in progress, but at least they are progressing!
