The First Time Father is an expectant survival guide for first-time dads through their pregnancy journey. Alfie Thomas was abandoned by his father at the age of 3, he was raised by a struggling single mother in London who had to work two jobs to make ends meet. At the age of 16 he moved to America to live with his mother’s sister. He accomplished his goals through hard work and determination by not only becoming a Software Engineer but also a writer, parenting coach, lecturer and accountant. He is now a father of 3 and takes us through his pregnancy journey and the survival guide for first time dads.

Alfie always had a fear of becoming a parent because of watching how his mum struggled to raise him and he felt that he would go through all of those struggles that she went through. When his wife became pregnant at the age of 27 he went through a lot of anxiety and sleepless nights. This journey that he takes us through has a lot of challenges and it also teaches you step by step on how to deal with being a first-time dad. There is a breakdown of each trimester per week. He explains in detail how to support your partner during the pregnancy and after the child is born, financial planning to secure your family’s needs, a better understanding of how to strengthen the relationship with your partner. Although the partner is carrying the child, Alfie gives a detailed description of what first-time dads also experience as they also have a lot to deal with. He guides you on how to overcome those fears that a parent will go through in the different stages of their journey. Being a father is a joyful experience and there are many ways you can choose to become an amazing father no matter what situation you may be in.

I really enjoyed the author Alfie Thomas because his detailed description of everything he has faced gives you a clear vision of what to expect as a first time-father as well as all the challenges he has overcome, It is a long road to becoming a dad and after reading this book at the end it will all be worthwhile. There is a bit of humor as well. Bringing a new born into this world is a gift to treasure, and this book is a perfect read there is nothing I can fault about this book, it helps to prepare and teach you everything about being a parent. He guides you, and will help to answer many questions that first time dads will experience. His journey has thought me all I need to know about becoming a parent.

I did not dislike anything about this book, it is professionally edited, easy to understand and an enjoyable read, each chapter is interesting and very informative giving a new parent insight on things they will discover they never knew, which will help them in their pregnancy journey. I would like to rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars.

In conclusion I would like to recommend this book to expecting fathers that are planning to bring a new born into the world as well as parents. This book is the best survival guide and will give you the knowledge and information of what to expect during and after pregnancy.
