28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humorous Memoir by Poppy Mortimer, as the title suggests, is a compilation of the author's 28 humorous dating stories spanning over twenty years.
She is an adventurous, bold and independent women with a great sense of humour.

It all started with her first online dating experience in England when a guy shared some traumatic pictures of his private parts and boasted about the size. After some really hilarious dates ranging from Mr. Tunnel of Terror who pretended to be invulnerable to Mr. Fodder who was so insecure about his appearance that he made Poppy overeat so that she would look less attractive than him. She left England and moved to Australia where she came across a man who could get aroused when he saw an elderly couple being affectionate. Following some more disastrous dates, she moved to Los Angeles where she went to a coffee date with a guy who didn't have control over his reactions. After completing her master's degree in Los Angeles, she moved to Melbourne for a business meeting and experienced many more disastrous dates. Do you think Poppy will find her Prince Charming by the end of the book?

I am really happy that I picked this book. It was a super fun read. I loved how Poppy learnt after each date and figured out what does she want in the person she want to date. This book showcased an inspiring story about womanhood. I appreciate the use of no vulgar words in this book. The author has done an amazing job in compiling humor and entertainment. I really liked how she chose to handle all the situations with patience and humbleness when she could have yelled at almost every guy during her disastrous dates.

I found nothing negative about this book although there were one or two minor grammatical errors which means the book is very well edited.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars as I really enjoyed the author's sense of humour. There were no profanities or graphic scenes. Overall, it's an amazing book. At the end of the book, there is a summary of the lessons which she learnt over the course of her dates.

I recommend this book to people above 13 including young adults, adults and individuals who may have gone through disastrous dates and the people who are looking for dating advice will learn a lot from this book.
