Live in the present. Be grateful for what your body can do today; not what it could do yesterday or what it will be able to do tomorrow. It is easier to achieve a pose if you ease into it rather than try to force your way into it. Whatever your expression of a pose looks like, it is exactly right. Page 87.

Susan Ducharme Hoben makes it known that she's well aware of the concept of death and she tries to make her readers understand through her book; Dying Well: Our Journey Of Love And Loss, that even when our loved ones pass on, there's so much more to it than them just leaving us behind.

The author was the first to be diagnosed with cancer after the doctors found a tumor in her heart. When she conquered that mountain, she thought that the storm had passed, not knowing that another misfortune was about to befall them in the form of cancer. But this time it wasn't her who fell sick. It was her dear husband, Bruce.

Everyone fears death, and though not easy watching your loved one slowly die, Susan stood strong and made sure to focus on making good memories and spending time with family and friends. That is not to say that the journey was a bed of roses. The author advised us to have faith in the face of trials. I loved the book and learned a lot of lessons. I haven't actually been a fan of memoirs, and I tend to avoid them, but something about this book drew me in, and I'm glad it did because it is now one of my favourite books.

It is for these reasons that I am rating this book 4 out of 4 stars. Dying Well was well edited and I found minimal errors in the book. Though there was no use of profanity and little to no sexual content, I would recommend this strictly to people in their late teens and adults. This is because of the heavy theme of this book, and due to the fact that you need to have a certain level of maturity to fully understand this book.

The author took us on a journey with her. How she became a cancer survivor and how she handled her husband's diagnosis are all detailed in this wonderfully crafted memoir. Susan Ducharme Hoben is a master writer indeed.
