Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a book that gives tips on how to change or reconfigure habits, actions, and attitudes in preparation of a more pleasing and comfortable retirement.

Who would expect a book about preparing for retirement to be truly entertaining? Reconfigurement is just that. The author gives many suggestions to better prepare for a pleasurable retirement. Fleischauer shares information from a profession viewpoint from a financial service career. He holds the professional titles of certified financial planner, financial consultant, retirement income professional, as well as estate planner. His knowledge is very useful for adults of any age. The information he shares is given in simple terms with plenty of humor that make the reading light and enjoyable.

Fleischauer discusses the need to plan ahead. Simple things we can do are stressed, such as having a budget, using employee offered savings plans like the 401K, and living a healthier life. He goes into many other aspects that can help prepare us, such as investments, health care, disability and life insurance. Additional guidance is given by providing other resources, such as links to career interests assessments for those who need to change careers to be happier, book titles that can be of further interest in learning more about planning for retirement and opportunities for work at home for those who might choose or need to work a little during retirement, as well as graphs that give quick overviews of presented information.

The information given is all very practical and indeed paramount for a dignified retirement. I found myself taking an in-depth look into my preparedness and acting on ideas as I read each chapter. I didn't find anything that I dislike about the book, in fact, whenever the author felt that the information might be too much or not interesting enough to all readers, he threw in a joke. I found the suggestions in the book helpful. I will keep it as a reference as I continue preparing for my own retirement and recommend it to all those who seek a peaceful and enjoyable retirement.

In conclusion, I rate this book a four out of four stars. I really appreciate the simplicity in which the information is given, the many practical pieces of advice given from a professional standpoint, and I especially enjoyed the author's humor. I found myself laughing out loud in random places as I read the book on my iPhone. Reconfigurement is full of practical advice and a delight to read. I would specifically recommend the book to anyone who is thinking on retiring within the next ten to fifteen years.

I also read this book. You are correct. The author wrote the book in an entertaining fashion, jokes included, which managed to maintain my interest throughout the book. His strategies for retirement were comprehensive. Great review!
