Review of E M P Honeymoon
Crusading United States Senator, Michael Mcbride, receives a call that he believes to be a prank call at first. The caller says that she is scared. Michael intends to hang up at first but realizes that only family members can get to him without having to go through Cynthia, his personal secretary. He realizes that it is his sister, Kelly. She informs him that she is in danger.
Earlier before the call, Kelly had walked into a shop believing that she would get a gift for her mother-in-law from her honeymoon. However, she discovered something that she should never have seen. She is attacked; she manages to escape, but not without her pursuer initiating a manhunt for her. What did she discover in the gift shop?
When I started the book E M P Honeymoon, I wondered what “E M P” meant and why it was attached to honeymoon in the first place. While reading this book, I learned that “E M P” meant electromagnetic pulse. I still wondered what this had to do with a honeymoon. At the end of this book, however, I could say for sure that I understood why. I learned a lot from this book. I read about a lot of things I haven't seen before, like a solar super flare. I found Dr Peter Kinny's interview, in particular, to be incredibly insightful, and I must say that the author put in a lot of research in this book, especially if this is not her field of study.
I like how the author portrayed the characters. Dr Kinny, for example, was quite sarcastic, knowledgeable and humorous. I found this to be an excellent combination. How often does one individual possess these characteristics? His sense of humour kept me interested in his theories. The book was laced with suspense. As I started the book, I wondered who was after Kelly and what exactly Kelly had done to attract danger. I loved how descriptive the book was and how the author managed to bring different settings together. I wondered what Colonel Rhee's role was until I saw her in Kelly's hotel. At various points in the book, I found myself asking questions about what would happen next; I absolutely loved that. I loved the insertion of pictures in the book, too.
I found only an error in the book. Dorothy May Mercer did an excellent job. However, I feel some parts of the book may be uninteresting to people who do not have prior knowledge of some of the topics discussed. This was the only negative aspect I found.
I rate the book four out of four stars. It was a beautiful read. The negative aspect I mentioned did not affect my rating because the author did her best to ensure that terms were explained to an extent. I recommend the book to individuals who enjoy suspense-filled books and romance.
