Review of The Dream Primer
In this book, The Dream Primer, Jeff Meyer states that failure does not stop dreams from becoming a reality; fear of failure does. Many people sit back and watch their dreams fade because they were not bold enough to bear the struggle that the pursuit of dreams comes with. In the end, they live to regret hiding and killing the light that might have positively impacted society.
Using metaphors and real-life examples, the author explains to his audience the many aspects surrounding dream pursuit. He extensively tackles some of the obstacles that might kill a dream. For example, he warns against the killer Ds: discouragement, defeat, doubt, destruction, delay, and many more. In addition, he guides his readers on steps on how to listen to motivations and whose voice to listen to because not all voices mean success. On the other hand, he also suggests ways for his audience to see their dreams come to reality. In this case, he uses the negative examples in the killer Ds to state where corrections are needed. Moreover, he urges that while we work on our dreams, we should keep our minds open to the unexpected. Not all dreams will turn out exactly as anticipated.
I felt this book was addressing me directly, and specifically, the doubt part discussed is familiar to me. I got motivated by the author's extensive ideas on how to deal with this doubt enemy and move my dream from fantasy to reality. Hopefully, I will be narrating my testimony soon. I appreciate how the author used his and other real people's examples to emphasize his points. For example, he narrates how he moved to a new house, which was a few meters away from his previous one; but he had no idea that it existed that close. He then relates that scenario to how people don't realize the immediate capabilities in their lives because they are busy focusing on the ones far away.
Furthermore, I liked the book's simplicity, flow, tone, and excellent command of English. Additionally, the author also involved his readers in his work by assigning them exercises to practice what they had read. To make it more interesting, he has provided a personal contact where readers can ask questions and give testimonials on how the book has impacted them.
This book was flawless. I did not encounter any errors, nor did I dislike anything about it. The editing was exceptionally well done, so I will rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this amazing book to individuals who have an ache to pursue their dreams but are stuck, not knowing where to start.
