Review of Reconfigurement
Financial literacy is very critical in navigating life, yet it is rarely taught in schools. It is of paramount importance for a person to understand finance and management of resources since our needs are endless yet the resources are limited. Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is very enlightening in terms of financial management and planning. You don't have to wait until you're 65 to start thinking about what you want to do with your life.
The book correctly points out the changes that have occurred in recent years that warrant changing our perspectives on so many areas of life. For instance, when the age of retirement was decided to be sixty-five, the life expectancy was really low. The book points out that people live longer after retirement, hence the need to put up measures on her to live better after retirement. The author discussed various insurance policies that are very necessary. For example, the need to have disability insurance will come in handy if you lose your source of income. The book also discusses the importance of career assessment. Many people do not love their jobs, but is it justifiable to leave immediately without any long-term plans?. The book points out that anyone can reconfigure at any age. Planning is key. The author also discusses various long-term investments such as government bonds and mutual funds.
First and foremost, I would like to applaud the editors for a job well done as the book is exceptionally well edited. This added to the overall beauty of the book. I loved how the author uses a conversational tone in the book; this really captures the attention of the reader. I also loved the examples the author used to pass on some important points in the book. The examples are very relevant and an important aid in passing on the intended message. Another positive aspect of the book is the insightful information provided about institutions such as social security that the reader will find informative and interesting. The author also goes to the trouble of providing relevant references and websites where the reader will find useful services such as career assessment and part-time earning.
There is nothing in particular to dislike about this wonderful book. Sometimes books of this kind are boring, but not this one. The author has found a really creative and humorous way to pass on the intended message.
I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars because of its uniqueness in passing on financial literacy. The book is also very educative and addresses issues in the context of the world today. As the author puts it, there is a difference between culture and reality. I have no doubt I will check out other books by this incredible author. I recommend the book to people seeking to find a new purpose in life and those who would love to secure their future through financial literacy and planning.
