Sip Lake by Joseph Basara is a comic- romance book that contains tales of love by different characters.

Owen, the protagonist, is fascinated with Tina, His workmate. He fights hard to get Her attention. He also has a friend called Marianne who takes Him as a brother. She falls for Owen but does not know how to tell Him. In his quest to have Tina, He realizes that love is built on friendship. Upon this learned lesson, He asks Marianne for a date.

The book has characters who portray different kinds of relationships. Some mothers show what took them into marriages. From their stories, readers get to understand a lot to do about relationships and marriages. Owen shows a need for personality acceptance before welcoming another to their lives.

The characters are loveable and believable. They made the story lively and real. They were also fully developed in the story. They were brought out humorously and vividly. They were also unique. The story has been written in the first person singular. There is also the use of direct speech. It brings out the differentiation in tone of the different characters. I loved this.

The story is narrated in a hospital setup. I found it the best setup based on the theme of the book. The setup married the theme. The book has a gentle flow following different months of the year. It is also short and, therefore, an easy read for anyone. The plot is not predictable; it keeps the reader on toes for the next chapter. The author has mastered the art of capturing the reader's attention.

The part that I loved most was when Owen finally asked Marianne to go out for a date. It's not a scene that I anticipated or predicted. It caught me by surprise, and this was so interesting. There could have been no better way of rapping up the story. My love for the book multiplied at this point and melted my heart as I was filled with joy and all smiled. This part of the review better explains that there is no part I disliked in this book.

I did not come across any grammatical errors, if any. Basara did an exceptional job which is evident. His work is recommendable.

Therefore, I give this book a well-deserved rating of 4 out of 4 stars. The book is informative and humorous. The greatest lesson learned was that love is built on friendship. I recommend this book to lovers of comic -romance books.
