Proxy by Alex London ~spoilers~

Post by Gravy »

In the distant future, money has been replaced by data; 1's and 0's are all that's left.
Those who have, offer credit to those who don't, if they'll proxy for them.

Proxies lives are not they're own, they live under the proverbial sword, which could fall at any moment. They will pay for the wrongs of their patrons, by sweat, by blood, and by tears.

Orphan, Syd, drew the short straw, his patron is nothing but trouble. Since he was four years old, he's been paying the price for Knox's transgressions. Knox breaks an ancient tablet-Syd gets punished, Knox does anything wrong-Syd has to pay.
This time, Knox has killed someone.

Syd runs to escape several years in prison.

After a chance meeting, Knox and Syd are thrown together. They're both running from something, but what they're running toward is what really matters.

This book gets points from me for having a main character who is both a POC and gay.

This is an interesting take on a whipping boy scenario. Visually rich and emotionally engaging, I fell in love with this book.
I can't recommend it enough.
Pronouns: She/Her

What is grief, if not love persevering?

Grief is just love with no place to go.
