Review of Reconfigurement
What are your plans for retirement? When should you prepare for your retirement? Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is an insightful book that will compel you to rethink your life and probably that of your family. It will incite you to consider whether you are ready for the future and what financial plans you have put in place to cushion yourself against financial obligations that may use up all your savings. The author is an expert in financial management, so his arguments are grounded in factual data that matters to financial planning for the future.
Fleischauer reveals that seventy percent of Americans despise their present jobs. They are demotivated from seeking positive benefits from their current jobs and are constantly looking for a way to change jobs. In addition, he adds that they may be in their current employment because of their bills and hence have lower chances of saving in an environment they do not expect to flourish in. However, he offers them hope by discussing various insurance policies they could take to cover unforeseen future occurrences such as disability. In addition, he also shares various types of policies for similar covers. For example, he explains that life insurance policies are grouped into term, whole life, and universal policies. The author goes further to reveal the merits and demerits of each policy, which will help his readers to make informed choices about their preferred policy.
This book is well researched, with an in-depth analysis of financial decisions that could help anyone plan. The author uses data and figures from credible sources, such as the Bureau of Statistics (census data), which not only give his discussion authenticity but also provide a clear picture of the current situation of the American workforce. He also debunks myths surrounding the social security fund, such as whether the social security system is going broke or whether members of Congress pay into social security. The social security chapter contains valuable information for contributors, especially on eligibility criteria.
In both the beginning and the end of several topics, the author has included jokes and other intertextual forms to add humor to the book. This is what I liked the most in this book. There was no better cathartic way of breaking the monotony of narration than a pun of words, which the author effectively used to keep the reader entertained while learning. His language is also simple to enhance the reader’s comprehension of specific concepts. As a way of simplifying information, Fleischauer deviated from the prose writing format in other sections, making my reading experience less tedious.
There is nothing I liked the least about this book. I found two errors that did not detract from my enjoyment, and I believe it was edited professionally. I, therefore, wholeheartedly award the text four out of four stars. Although the initial target audience is adults over forty, I believe young people in their twenties and thirties would benefit from the insight into planning for the future. The concept of saving cuts across every individual; cultivating that art in young people is especially important.

Thank you for the comment.Youngreader720 wrote: ↑15 Oct 2022, 09:42 One of the most challenging things to manage when planning retirement is finances, and the author recognizes the need to provide solutions to this through his expertise. This will be helpful for many, especially those over forty as you have highlighted here.
