Owing to good advances in medicine, nutrition, and exercise, life expectancy has changed over time, and 65 is not old age anymore. Increased longevity comes with several challenges since, many will spend more time in retirement, therefore, the need for proper planning. As people live longer, they may also incur significant medical costs along the way. The earlier you start thinking about your retirement the better!

Reconfigurement, by E. Alan Fleischauer, is a non-fiction book with the main themes of, the importance of planning, and also financial, and life strategies. With thirteen short chapters, the book addresses a diverse number of topics, including health insurance, life insurance, income, personality assessments, the need for a retirement plan, survivor and spousal benefits, and also legal advice, when it comes to the writing of the will, and gifting. Being a financial advisor, planner, consultant, and retirement income certified professional, he well crafts great insights, and advice on the need to be wise in selecting insurance plans, and on the right choice of jobs, following a personality assessment test. I felt like the author stood before me in a hall, where everyone silently listened, as he poured out nuggets of information to us.

The book has many quotes, and jokes on related topics, although they may be distracting, they are necessary considering the subject of discussion. The mode of writing also engages readers in different activities, that require them to stop and take assessments throughout the way as the author suggests. The book is also well researched, with many links attached for further reading and review. Considering it as a recent book, I found the personality assessment test, the budget template, and the financial plan applicable in the current season of inflation. I liked the clarity, and preciseness of the book, it’s possible to read it in one sitting.

I missed out on some designations in the book and found it most suitable for US residents. The book has a negligible letter, and punctuation omissions, which did not affect my reading. There is nothing else that I disliked about this book, I’d in fact desire to read it several times, as I make life choices. The author is well versed in the subject matter, and for that reason, I would rate the book, 4 out of 4 stars.

I would recommend this book not just to the retired, and almost retiring, but also to all people who are working and desire to have an easy time after retirement. This is because most types of insurance get more expensive as someone ages.
