We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a fictional fantasy with lots of action, suspense, drama, and intrigue. The Land of Princes is a nation ravaged by war, poverty, and suffering. Galen Bray, a young man who grew up there, learns that he has an uncle named Galen Onita. His uncle wants him to inherit a forge. In a bid for greener pastures, Galen Bray travels by sea to Magnum Caelum. He is devastated when he learns of his uncle's death.

He learns how to be a blacksmith like his uncle. He is aided by Rowan, his uncle’s enforcer. In a bid to restore it to its former glory, Wilhem Arcolo, the king of Voulhire, appoints Eldus as the new Lord of Hillport. The former ruler of Hillport, Lord Meldorath, is a powerful mage and is rumored to be alive. He is greatly feared because of his power and the atrocities he committed while in power. Did Lord Eldus succeed in restoring Hillport to its former glory? Has Lord Meldorath returned? How is Galen Bray involved in all this? Grab a copy to find out.

I liked that the book gave us different points of view. The actor did a great job with the writing. It was easy to follow and understand. The detailing of the book was superb; the writer did a very good job with it. The characters were well developed. I also liked the fact that the minor characters had important roles to play and were not just fillers. I liked Galen’s character; he was so humble and very thoughtful. I liked Rowan’s character too, because he was funny. I also like Lord Eldus; he’s the perfect example of what a good leader should be. The book is the first book in the series, and it set a good tone for the subsequent books to follow.

It was a slow read at first, but it quickly got interesting. I did not find any things I disliked about the book. It was well written and well paced. I gladly give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I found no errors in the book, which means it was exceptionally well edited.

I personally love history books, but I was drawn in once I picked up this book to read. I recommend this book to lovers of fantasy, fiction, action, suspense, and thrillers.
