Review of Reconfigurement
For anyone who is currently in the workforce, surely you don't want to keep working till death? Did you work to live or live to work? Did you ever think about retirement? It is a mainstream view that people should retire at the average age of 65. Even so, the author of this book disagrees with this view. The age of retirement of 65 is no longer relevant due to the increase of life expectancy of Americans. Even more, what will you do after retiring at that age?
The book is Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer. The central theme of this book is how to plan your retirement financially. Other than that, this book will also explain how a late-age crisis is an opportunity. The book will guide you financially and give you some ideas on how to turn a crisis into an opportunity and turning point in your life. After that, it will focus on planning ahead, working at a job you love, and having fun before you retire. It covers career testing, investing, life protection, affordable health insurance, 401K or IRA, social security, and so on.
Let’s give a big applause to the author as he has done a great job in writing this book. It has been written beautifully with good writing quality, excellent page design, helpful content, and cheerful language. It is an enlightening read for me. The author also includes stories in the book to make it easier for the reader to understand. He also serves us with a humorous writing style which makes my reading cheerful. It keeps me from getting bored.
There is only one thing I did not enjoy with this book which is the fact that it uses “-” to connect one word between two lines. I don’t think it’s proper to do that, as it can ruin the reader’s reading process.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This rating is due to the book’s writing quality, page design, helpful content, and cheerful language. While there is something I didn’t like about this book, I don’t think I should blame the book for it. So there is no reason for me to give a rating lower than this. This book is exceptionally well-edited. I didn’t find any errors in the book.
According to the author, the target audiences for this book are people in their 40s to 50s. However, I still recommend this book to anyone younger who did like to plan for retirement early on. I also heavily recommend this book to Americans, as I think this book will resonate strongly with them. May all the readers enjoy this book and manage to retire as guided by this book.
