ARA Review by jathomas of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

In It Together
3/5

This book seeks to unite humans on the common ground that we are all human and all fighting a spiritual war within ourselves. It strives to prove that all humans regardless of race, religion, or monetary status are simultaneously fighting this war.

I couldn't give this book anything more than 3 stars simply because it failed in its purpose. I read this book with an open mind. Broad claims were made with regard to religion. I am an atheist and found myself being told that even I would appreciate the wisdom of the Serenity Prayer. False. I have no appreciation for the Christian religion nor any of its writings. In a similar fashion, the book was quick to remind me several times that all marriages end in death or divorce. While this is true, it was mentioned again and again. To be quite candid, a book that I suspect is meant to be uplifting, was quite depressing.

Now on the other hand, it did make several good points. It discusses several world issues and how we as humans feel helpless to make a difference. How we cannot take care of the world if we cannot in turn take care of ourselves. For the validity of its arguments and the narrator's sense of humor I couldn't give it less than 3 stars.

Overall, it is a book that I would recommend to a friend. I would caution that it is meant to appeal to all, and it fails to be as open minded as it appears.
