Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
A nation where there is no peace and unity among the citizens isn't a prosperous nation. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a sci-fi and fantasy book that tells the story of a man who left his countrymen to seek greener pastures in a foreign nation known as Voulhire.
The land of Princes was affected by a constant war and rivalry between the four sons of the emperor. Galen had to leave the land and move to Magnum Caelum in the city of Voulhire, where his deceased uncle, Onita, resided. He moved there to inherit Onita's properties. The rich and powerful nation called Voulhire is well known for science and magic. The people of Voulhire were ruled by King Wilhelm Arcolo. There were also several lords who led the people of Hillport. Lord Orlin was dismissed because of the atrocities he committed and was replaced by Lord Meldorath. Subsequently, Lord Meldorath was also dismissed and persecuted for following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Lord Orlin. The king appointed a new lord, Judge Eldus Alderman, to run the affairs of Hillport. Will Judge Eldus Alderman change the narrative? Get this book to find out.
There are many positive aspects to this book, but what I love the most is the writing style and the simple vocabulary words used to write it. The storyline was a fantastic one. I would never have thought of such an interesting story like this. I love how the author told the story from different perspectives. Therefore, switching from the story of the war-torn land of Princes to the story of the lords of Hillport. The author is a very creative writer, and I must appreciate him for that. I also loved the introduction of new characters like Rowan; it made the book more interesting. The major and minor characters were well developed. Furthermore, I found it easy to read with the help of the glossary provided in the book.
I didn't dislike anything in this book. It was really captivating. The beginning was kind of boring, but I totally understood because it was the introductory part where the characters were being introduced. I also expected a lot of action scenes, but it didn't meet my expectations. But I hope I will read more action scenes in the next book in the series. I look forward to reading more books in this series.
I'm rating this book 4 out of 4 stars. I found no errors in the book. This shows it was exceptionally well-edited. I recommend this book to those who love reading sci-fi books.
