Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R. F. Kristi is the eighth book in the Inca Cat Detective series. It is a diary of Inca, the cat detective leader, narrating her adventures in Korea.

Inca and her friends, four cats and two dogs, are super detectives at detecting problems. They have their human host, whom they call Mom. Mom was selected to be one of the judges of the French Patisserie competition in South Korea. She had a special cheese to present to the event organizers, but while at the airport, Mom's bag holding the cheese went missing. The detective team headed by Inca has to find the thief. Still, in South Korea, the pet detectives meet other friends who are pets of Mom's friends. Mom moves with them to the DMZ, where she has to judge another competition. While movement between South and North Korea was prohibited, one of the cats wanted to sneak to the north to see his relatives, from whom they were separated. This move is risky, but the cat detective has to formulate a plan. Will it work?

I like the picture illustrations in the book. They are appealing and informative, such that they help readers visualize the story. I also appreciate the author's simple paragraph format and unique font style. The paragraphs are short, clear, and simple, and the book's font is friendly, making it a perfect fit for the target audience—children. The book's length is also enough to fit the target audience's interests. Additionally, I did not encounter any problematic terms in the book. The author used a simple vocabulary in her writing and avoided profanity and sexual content, making the book even more relevant to the young audience.

Moreover, the book's story is appealing because of its amazing flow and mysteries. It was interesting to read how Inca and her friends solve problems to save their human host from running into shame. There are also educational aspects in the book that would benefit readers. For example, the themes of unity, teamwork, and discipline highlighted in the book will positively impact readers. Last but not least, I liked the lively emotions in this book. The affection portrayed by the pets touched my heart.

There was nothing I disliked in this book. It was exceptionally well-edited, and I have no negative comments. Therefore, I will rate Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to children because they will love the kitties' adventure story. I also recommend it to pet lovers.
