Review of Reconfigurement
What are your plans for retirement? Retirement needs to be financially planned. Reconfigurement is to reconfigure your life and to plan it ahead. It is a turning point or an opportunity to start a new job or even a new career. An opportunity to live the life that resonates deep within you. Some fellows might be short-sighted about their abilities to earn a living. Career assessment will help you to know your personality strengths and the career that suits you best. The author recommends some online assessments as Pairin, Traitify and Plum assessments. There are six types of careers: realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising and conventional. What about household budgets? Do you have one? Free budget templates are available online. The book deals with the concern of living too long and running out of money, income protection, investing and unfamiliar kinds of life insurance. Disability Income Insurance is the most needed. Annuities are four types: immediate, deferred, fixed and variable. Medicare has four parts: A, B, C and D. The book refers to Medicaid, wills and trusts. Spendthrift Trust protects the beneficiary from himself! Finally you ought not forget to have fun before you retire.
The book was written in light of COVID-19 pandemic as many people had quit their jobs. It consists of thirteen chapters and includes a variety of graphs, surveys, real stories and a list of job books. The author clarified ten Social Security myths as the one which claims that undocumented immigrants drain the Social Security. There are many jokes that would make the reader laugh in spite of the informative theme of the book.
What I liked about the book is the easy and enjoyable writing style. The personal information shared by the author as the age of his grandfather. Rewarding the reader at the end of some chapters by telling a joke. The one that I liked most was:"My wife told me that if I gave her another stupid gift, she would burn it! so I bought her a candle."
What I didn't like about the book is the numerosity of financial terms and descriptions though it was made as brief and cheerful as possible. Also I didn't like the use of some words as "darn" and "dang."
The book is well-edited. I rarely found any typos, spelling or grammatical errors. There are no sexual words. Some profanity words were used at the termination of some sentences, but it didn't weigh to reduce a star from the rating. Hence I rate Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book to readers who are about to retire or who are concerned about retirement. The book is suitable for the age range of 60-65 years to pave a road of reconfiguring a new phase in life.
