In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes truly captured my full attention and led me on an unexpected journey of peaceful self-reflection and inspiration. In this book, Hughes seeks to help readers find their true selves by cleverly unraveling the layers of the unique life experience each of us has lived to graciously expose our core consciousness and truth. Upon reading, readers may find themselves at inner peace and mindfully united to everybody and everything through shared consciousness and an unjudgmental love for existence.

I do not believe I have ever come across a book such as In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All; I have never read any books in the “self-help” genre. While I say that I was thrust into this unexpected and introspective journey, Hughes reiterates throughout the book that it is not meant to be a complete guide that one must follow to the letter to achieve their ever-compiling stack of goals. Rather, it is meant to offer helpful suggestions toward recognizing consciousness, truth, and love to all willing participants of any background. Personally, I found the inclusivity and truthful non-judgement of this book very refreshing.

I had a positive experience with Hughes’ tone and diction, which addresses the reader as though they are in a personal conversation with the author. I enjoyed that this book was written personably, with a lighthearted tone of humor and enlightening encouragement. One minor aspect I found negative was some light repetition of concepts and phrases, but at the same time, I sometimes found that the same repetition was important for reiterative purposes and drove home important concepts, typically through a short summary of the previous lessons learned at the end of each new chapter. Hughes is a very thorough author, and his writing places emphasis on vital ideas through a parallel structure which was easy to follow. I enjoyed how the themes in this book are memorable, and I believe a second read will be equally inspiring.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars, because upon finishing this book, I felt wonderfully connected to and aware of every part of the world around me. I rate this book highly because it personally helped me feel empowered and motivated to practice peaceful mindfulness, and to observe and enjoy life and my contributions to existence. I feel loved, and ready to love everyone and everything that makes up our unique reality.

In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All gently guides us readers along our own conscious journeys of self-reflection and emotional understanding. I enjoyed this book so much that I plan to read it again in the future, and I feel fortunate to have crossed paths with the wise words of Eckhart Aurelius Hughes. Plainly, I loved this book, and I highly recommend it to my fellow readers.
